I’m always trying to understand why other people like actors that I don’t. In that vein, what makes Daniel Day-Lewis a good actor and worthy of a second Oscar? To me he plays exactly the same character in every film, and I take that character to be himself. I just don’t get it. If someone would be so kind as to explain what makes Daniel Day-Lewis a good actor, I would certainly appreciate it. I will receive any explanation with gratitude.

He is the ruler of the character actors. He is always on top form, he immerses himself in his roles and gives his all, it is kinda hard to say why he rocks, he just does. Sorry, I guess I am not that helpful – I just digg the dudes flow.

Well, as for Day Lewis (my favourite actor)… you’re sure we’re talking about the same actor? Because he’s the greatest character actor there is, he’s just becoming a different man everytime – it’s pure magic.
Always the same character? I can’t see anything in common in his 2 oscar rules – Daniel Plainview and Christy Brown. Both are brilliant performances, both are completely different man, with different ways of behavior, and Day Lewis mastered both of them. If I wouldn’t have known it’s him, I would never have guessed it’s the same dude in the both.
Same goes for the ultimate villian he portrayed in Gangs Of New York and the lovely dude he played in Age Of Innocence, and so many others…

My thoughts exactly yaniv, Day-Lewis is one of the best out there. End of story.
