Ellen Page as “Jane Eyre”

Ellen Page, you know my Queen, my reason for living, is set to play the title character in the latest adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s “Jane Eyre,” according to Variety. {Fataculture is fast becoming a news-orientated site, I know, I will not let it}.
I do not care if I am not that interested in the story much, I know it is a story about female empowerment in the very least, as long as Page is attached, I will be first in line. She picks such great roles, and nails them every time. I never even have to get my hopes up about a film with her in it, they usually always deliver, especially if she plays the lead.
We all know how much AMPAS love themselves a royal - perhaps Pages second nom? Yeah, I am getting ahead of myself - the film not what is important, until it is released, but Ellen Page has a knack for playing strong female characters and I am glad is able to commit fully to being diverse.

I saw this yesterday or the day before on a site (can’t remember which one) and was very, very excited. It’s great that she’s taking on something completely different than the roles she’s been doing so far.
Nah, Fataculture isn’t becoming a news site. News about Ellen Page is a different matter and completely understandable, since we know how much you love her.

Oh, and if you never read the book Jane Eyre I highly recommend it. It’s truly a classic and not only about female empowerment (although Jane is a very strong character). Hopefully this new adaptation will do the book the justice it deserves.

I really - really do love her!
You are right, she is constantly doing the most amazing work, and none of it is similar - except for the fact that she is always good. Hell, I saw “X-Men: The Last Stand” just because of her.
Usually, I try and read the book before I see the film adapted from it, so I will take you up on that. I am sure it is an amazing book - almost everyone I know who has read it adores it and revisits it constantly - I know my mom has it somewhere in the house.
There have been tons of Jane Eyre films, I have only seen one by Franco Zeffirelli and it was merely okay. I think casting Page as the title character, - someone who is not an obvious Eyre at first glance - is a bold choice, and it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Hmmm…Page as a period romantic heroine…that’s an interesting choice. I’m sure she can pull it off, she needs to get away from the precocious, smart-ass roles for a while.

This could easily implode.
I’m thinking it will.
It just doesn’t make sense.
God DAMN it, my hand hurts.
*cries*

Nick, Nick, Nick … I hope you’re not terribly disappointed, and disillusioned, so that you hole up in a small cottage with 27 cats and a parakeet, singing and mumbling to yourself, and swiping at imaginary butterflies in the fetid, cat-urine tinged air.
Alas, I fear it will be so.

Matt, agreed - she needs to move away from that. She has a “great” or several in her, I know it. Whatever that even means.
J.D - it SO could, but we won’t know until we know, you know?
Rick - I don’t think it will get to that point. I do not like cats much, everything else, including the cat-urine tinged air, could very well play out. Just like the future of the film, my future is very much unknown.

Yeah, I know. Wait… no, I don’t know, or I do know…
Ya know?!

I can’t picture it, but I’m anxious to see her branch out a little bit. She’s got the “Teen Who’s Smarter Than All The Adults Around Her” thing down really good, but let’s see some more.
I don’t know about Jane Eyre though. I could totally see her sliding into Laura Linney type roles…smart but a little neurotic, romantically awkward. That kind of thing.

I don’t know J.D. - I just do not know!!!
Agreed Craig - it is always good for the cutest little chicky to spread her wings - but can she really fly? I hope so.
If her career is anything as greats as Linney’s - which is a good observation by the way, I might steal it - the world, at least the film world, would be a better place.

She introduced Tracey Fragments at AFI and she’s SO tiny. I wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home.

She is a feisty little thing. I would love to get in a fight with her.

lol Nick. I actually typed a few things and they sounded wrong too. Not sure if we mean wrong in the same way but, well, enough said.
