First Look & Release Date: “W”

US Release Date: 17 October 2008

Josh Brolin as Bush

Remember the film I said I could not care less about? Maybe not, but I know I said it somewhere, now with these images surfacing {this is the first time I am seeing them at least} I am very much interested. Can you believe that is Josh Brolin? I cannot. I may not be Oliver Stone’s biggest fan, but I am intrigued.

So, like with many biopics, they have nailed the look; can they get any deeper? Here’s to hoping.

W on the Cover

I also think this may be a good time to subscribe to EW, or something.

That totally doesn’t look like Llewelyn Moss.

My curiousity is high, but my interest is still low. Does that even make sense? I like Elizabeth Banks, when is she going to blow up into a huge movie star?

The EW cover is shades of red, white and blue.

    Subtle.

I know, right? I think this film will do wonders for Brolin’s career - but it is getting a little to “buzzed” for my liking - and that is never a good thing. I think.

I get that - I feel the same way. And it went from me not even giving it a single thought, to me not being able to take my eyes off those pics. I am weird.

I hope she blows up soon - into a huge movie star that is. I cannot wait to see Definitely, Maybe {6 June} because you said it was decent and I liked your review. She was also really funny in “Scrubs” and in her smaller, but *rolling on the floor laughing*, role in “40 Year Old Virgin” - I like her indeed.

    :) lol, J.D.

I love your random, but oh-so observant and relevant, observations.

I really did like DM, much to my surprise.

Yeah, your opinion of it is really all I am going on, I have not heard much else about it. I have not seen a Rom-Com {which I am still assuming it is} for a while, I need less Drama in my life, and a little more fluff.

Yeah, it was rom-com all the way. The best part was…whatsername..uh..uh…Isla Fisher who I’d only ever seen in Wedding Crashers. Banks didn’t have as interesting as a part, but she was good. And Rachel Weisz of course. The three girls really made the movie methinks.

You know, I’m with you. I need a little fluff right now. That’s why I’m pinning such high hopes on Speed Racer. I don’t need a deep plumbing of the human soul right now. Just give me some fun without pissing me off.

    Can. Not. Wait. for this.

Isla Fisher is EXCELLENT in D,M. Well, for a romantic comedy, but even that’s impressive. LOVE her.

Isla Fisher made “Wedding Crashers!!!!” She was SO funny.

Sounds like fun, still a bit of a wait, but when it rolls my way, I’ll be waiting.

I am insanely hoping Speed Racer will screw my sideways with every colour and light it throws my way. That is my way of saying, I really wanna see it. I do not expect much - but I want me some entertainment dammit, where I do not have to you my head much.

Matt - I my anticipation - which is dumb because I will see it only months after you see it anyway, is building. Slowly and unsurely.

Another lover of “D,M” - I think I should advance book then, lol.

It’s an adequate movie, but the ensemble makes it worthwhile. Yes. :)

I went into DM with ZERO expectations. It was just playing at the right time between two other movies I wanted to see at the same theater and it turned out to be likeable…which for a romantic comedy is saying a lot if you ask me.

As for Speed…well I’ll begin finding out in 5 hours or so. No idea when I’ll have a review of it though. I’ll be pretty tired when it’s over (almost 3am my time)

I still can’t believe that is actually Josh Brolin under all that make-up.

This movie sounds interesting. I think Bush is a fascinating man, despite what he has done to the U.S. and I’m glad that Oliver Stone is making a movie about him, complete with an amazingly strong cast.

Craig, I think it would be a good “filler movie” - as you did, see it in-between others, but I will keep an eye out for it.

    Enjoy Speed Racer for me!

Marcy, nor can I, that is some brilliant makeup work - I guess they can make anyone look like anyone.

The idea of the film is catching up with me - I was flat out against it, but now - not so much. Bush has led a very interesting life, so it should make for an interesting film indeed.

Seriously, where is Will Ferrell? GW was one of his last best characters.

Not that it was really necessary, but W is probably going to explode in the mainstream now thanks to this cover. Oh well. I’m not against it, I’m just against anybody thinking it will be very good.

I agree - it is totally going mainstream, but as long as it sticks to the facts - plus a dose of entertainment, because it is the US President - I think it will be fine. But as with most Stone films, I tread with cautioned curiosity.
