Coming Soon: “Choke”
Finally Fox Searchlight have released the teaser poster for one of my most anticipated films of the year, “Choke.” The book by Chuck Palahniuk is honestly one of the funniest books I have ever read (which may not mean much because I am not big on reading), and the film version is apparently hillarious as well.
The book and film are about a sex-addicted con-man (Sam Rockwell) who scams the rich by faking choking in swanky restaurants, and then uses the trust of those who “save” him to keep his deranged mother (Angelica Huston) in her private hospital. Written and directed by Clark Gregg, who we recently saw in Iron Man, there is no way I am missing the film, and it is set to be released on the 26th of September 2008 in the US, without a SA release date yet, naturally.
My recent turmoil in life has come from the disappointment that arises more often than not when a film you absolutely love turns out to be a hell of less great. Hope it doesn’t happen this time.
Anyone who has seen it, I would love to hear your thoughts…

So is the Sistine Chapel, but you don’t see me complaining about that monstrosity.
… what?

Not big on reading!?!?!?! You’ve read every book that’s been adapted, or will be, in the last year!
Wow, I just looked up Clark Gregg. That guy is a screenwriter, too? Well I didn’t really like What Lies Beneath, but I’ll take your word for it, of course, and I’m a fan of Sam Rockwell, not to mention Fight Club, one of the best movies of the last decade.

J.D - you’re so crazy!
Danny, I guess I have read a lot of recent stuff…Choke tops the list as the last book I read, I really enjoyed it.
Choke has some really good people attached to it, I hope it is good…

I like the poster. And love Sam Rockwell. Loved Fight Club too, but this sounds a bit annoying.
SA release date… as in South Africa?!

It could be annoying, depending on how the book has been adapted,
I have no idea when it is released in SA {yeah, as in South African} which makes me sad….
