Katherine Heigl To “Escape”

Katherine Heigl say’s she wont be getting an Emmy nomination this year because the ”Grey’s Anatomy” writers failed to give her the kind of material they did last season, which, as a huge fan of the show, I can say is true.
She said in a written post via her publicist, “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organisation.” Talk about cutting her nose off to spite her face, so to speak. “In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials,” she continued. She won the “Best Supporting Actress” in a Drama Series last year at the Emmys, and I have never forgotten the sheer excitement and pride I felt for her. Now there are more rumours that she wants to escape from the show that made her famous. I doubt it will work to her benefit.
Her role was less significant this season and her character did stay out of the picture for most of it, but the season was only 16 episodes long, because of the writer’s strike. If she honestly wants to leave the show, and her numerous complaints about her contract, “Grey’s Anatomy” would suffer immensely. For the fans and ratings, and Heigl knows it. Shonda Rhimes and the gang won’t let her go easily.
She really knows how to alienate people. Evidence can be found here, and what she said about ex-Grey’s co-star Isaiah Washington, “I’m going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period.”
At least she is branching out of what everyone thought would be a fluffy, romantic comedy-filled career, as she is set to star in and produce an adaptation of Carolyn Jessop’s memoir titled “Escape.” It will no doubt be interesting to see how she handles it.
The Primetime Emmy nominations are announced on the 17th of July.

Hmm…it just hit me. Maybe Katherine needs to publicly gay-bash somebody, then they will just fire her.
On a second thought, poor idea. Has anybody seen Isaiah Washington lately?

Hahaha!
I think I saw Isaiah on “Bionic Woman” or something one night, but I cannot be sure. I am not a fan of the guy, at all.

You know, she could’ve made her withdrawal from Emmy consideration seem graceful in some way instead of coming off like a cow.
Clearly grace wasn’t her intention. I don’t watch the show, but what’s the deal? Does she want out now that she fancies herself a movie star?
Bad move. Become a movie star first. I didn’t see 27 Dresses, but she was not the best part of the overrated (even by me at the time) Knocked Up.

Katherine’s an attractive woman and I do admire her honesty. She obviously has a clear sense of integrity in an industry that can be notoriously soulless.
I’ve just seen her around. I’m completely unfamiliar with her work.
Though I love women like this (I can relate TOTALLY, shall we say) there is such a thing as playing the game. You may not want to. You may feel ambivalent about it. But, if you want to be in the entertainment industry and be a success, those ARE the realities.
Nicky, there are a bunch of us that talk privately. If not all the time, then every now and then. Particularly when one of us needs some advice or help.
You KNOW how outspoken I am – and all I have is a website. If I were actually working in the industry, I would know when to keep my piehole shut. There are a lot of things that you discuss in private with your friends that should never see the light of day.
The manner in which Ms. Heigl is behaving (and I’m not gonna lie – I do admire her various stances to some degree) is not going to be conducive to cultivating a long career. Usually people that spout off like that are the LONG ESTABLISHED superstars (people like BARBRA STREISAND, JULIA ROBERTS, MERYL STREEP, AL:PACINO) that can get away with it.
Ms. Heigl has had…um, a hit TV show and two hit movies that will not be remembered at all a couple of years down the pike. There’s a huge difference between being in current hits which are the flavour of the moment and being part of something classic that people discuss in hushed, reverential tones 100 years from now.
Frankly, I didn’t realize that Ms. Heigl had accumulated that much wealth, power and reputation. I mean, that she sees fit to throw it all away like that. The only people that can survive being branded as “difficult” in Hollywood are the true stars that everyone wants to hire anyway. Katherine, regardless of what she may believe, is not on that level yet.
Controversy is a good thing. Until it becomes too much and then it’s a career killer.
Well, as I said, I do dig that. TO A POINT. But I wish her luck. God help her.
She’s going to need it…

I admire her a lot as well, I just think she needs to be a little more careful as to what she says and who, so I agree with you completely.
I think if she plays her cards right, she has the potential to become a big star, but by acting like one prematurely, it will only put people off.
I still love her, and she is the best thing about “Grey’s Anatomy” and pretty much everything she’s ever been in, and I adore her to bits, I just don’t want her to screw up her chances on hitting the big-time someday
