Enough LaBeouf?

That’s a little uncalled for, I’d say. But I am insanely biased on all things LaBeouf. Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be a fan rant or anything, I think I have more than well established my admiration for the guy. Do I want to see less of him? No. Do I think he has been in too many movies, too soon? No. Do I think that he has not exactly been picking the most challenging roles? Sure, but now that he has well established the fact that he can more than handle high-profile, popcorn-entertainment type roles, he can focus on exploring his more artistic side in dramatically diverse films, like he did in “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.” If he doesn’t branch out soon, then I’ll buy my T-shirt, because he has far too much talent and personality to waste on roles that basically demand nothing at all. So close. *sigh*
He’s a very good actor, but yeah, just get your hand out of Spielberg’s pants, dude! Jeez!

I agree, LaBeouf has way too much talent to be wasted on summer blockbusters. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with acting in summer blockbusters since it pays the bills, but an indie flick or two under his belt certainly wouldn’t hurt.
I dunno, I think the t-shirt is a little harsh. Especially since there are other actors that I find to be way more annoying and over-rated.

I knew I would have you on my side! We’re both a little Shia crazy…
I just nearly almost DIED when I saw him in “Saints” because he was SO good, so emotional, and DEEP. I want more of that. And he better give it to me.

You’re makin’ it too easy, dude. I refuse to give in to it!

Smells like fanboy hatred to me and I have no use for that. The kid’s got talent.

:) All I can do is smile. And then sigh. And then open wide and say “Shia….”

You snuck in there Mr. Kennedy, and yes, fanboy hate is on my list of things I cannot tolerate, but I do like making fun of their patheticness. In addition, I like to stand up for my peeps…I’m sort of a slightly less screwy {or temperamental} fanboy. I hope anyway.

So many of my friends hopped off the LeBeouf train the split-second he rode in on the motorcycle in IJ4. Maybe my friends don’t understand the concept of homage, but it was enough for them to talk shit.
Eagle Eye looks awful. There I said it.
Other than that, I’ll be supporting Shia through all of this mainstream popcorn movies and his indie flicks.

Eagle Eye…could be okay, I think. Not great, but hey, it’s Shia and Michelle M.
Really now J.D.? ;)
I’m being a hypocrite, I am a fanboy about certain things, I am just optimistic about most things and don’ “hate” things all the time.

For whatever reason, I seem to be the owner of a good star radar. When everyone walked out of Brokeback Mountain, they were talking about the guys and MIchelle Williams. I was talking about Anne Hathaway. After watching his five minutes at the beginning of Constantine, I thought, boy that kid has star quality. I checked the name and it was Shia LaBeouf. Maybe that’s why I like him. A sense of investment. But I do. He’s a very natural screen presence, and for such a young man, he handles his job pretty well. Give him some time. It’s a long career.
Nick Plowman said,

Really? I barely remembered him in Constantine until I saw it again. But, and yeah I’m going to pull this card, I was young and stupid then. I did think a lot about Hathaway after BB Mountain though, she was just as fantastic as everyone else in that film was, and at least she is picking smarter roles than LaBeouf. But like you say, he’s got a long career and no matter what, I’m going to be there seeing what he can do with his charisma and talent. He better not waste [too much of] my time.

I think he’s made all the right moves and with all the right people (just imagine his Rolodex), setting himself up for a long, successful, and varied career. He’s like the Nick Plowman of acting.

I agree, I think he has done all the blockbuster stuff, he has the contacts, he is a household name, blah, blah, blah, now I want him to show a little more. I have faith in him.
And your endless faith in me is astounding, but very motivating man, so thank :)

The best thing about Shia LaBeouf is that he does the blockbuster movies as well as the art films. The advantage of doing the hit summer movie is that everybody gets to see you. There are actors out there who are very talented and ony does quality movies. You see them ones every five years twice every two years if you are lucky. A lot of movie theaters will not show art films. Therefore, the visibility of a talented actor is minimal.
It’s only a matter of time before Shia gets an Academy Award (R) for best actor. Anyway, here’s to Shia LeBeouf for doing popcorn movies as well as quality movies. Let’s hope that LaBeouf he is smart enough to know the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

I’ve got it up on you all … I remember LaBeouf from “Project Green Light,” the several seasons long TV show on Sundance (or was it IFC?) exec-produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. So there.
I don’t understand folks getting down on a talented guy like him for establishing a career and paying some bills. And really, who wouldn’t accept a call from Mr. Spielberg?

Yeah, so now he can get on with the good shit, I’m over him paying the bills, now can he please make my spending money on every movie he is in worthwhile? That’s what I want.

I don’t begrudge the guy making popcorn flicks; he’s a far better actor than most of the guys they cast in those kinds of films. It would be nice to see him branch out a bit.
Seriously, am I the only person that LIKED Indy IV?
