Does “Benjamin Button” Need to Be 3 Hours Long?
Vulture seems to think not. I, well, think I disagree. We haven’t seen it so who are we to judge? I mean, Zodiac was long and I loved Zodiac. But we aren’t even talking about the finished product here, but the “test” screening that AICN attended now has people asking the random question of, “is it too long?” Now, we always need to be wary when AICN sees anything early (or ever really), and now is as good a time as any to look the other way. This is major Oscar bait, and length has never stopped the Academy before, and people who are going to want to see the film will do so irregardless of the length. The best part of this gossipy little get-together is /Film’s ominous declaration of “There is a bigger story going on behind the scenes…” Since when do mere (so called) editing woes constitute major problems? Apparently, Fincher is actually cutting the film until it is at “the length he is happy with.” Doesn’t that happen with all films? It’s not that no one is talking about the behind the scenes problems, it’s that there probably aren’t any to report on. I hate gossip.

There really is nothing more annoying than gossip, and especially when tit’s negative gossip on one of my most anticipated films pf the year.

Self-indulgent running times tick me off, I don’t care how good the film is/will be, if it is 3 hours long I will get bored.

I loved “Zodiac,” I wish I had reviewed it, I would have given it about 4-stars or more maybe.

as long as there is interval (which there won’t be) in between, i’ll be fine, can’t remember Zodiac being long.
