Find The “Wild Things,” Freaking Little Children Out Everywhere October 16th ‘09

You know, sooner or later nobody’s going to give a damn where the hells these freaking Wild Things are. Despite the cast (Catherine Keener, Benicio Del Toro, Forest Whitaker, Lauren Ambrose, Catherine O’Hara, Tom Noonan, Michael Berry and James Gandolfini), the director (Spike Jonze) and despite my initial curiosity, I’m starting to get a little bored with the instability that seems to have plagued the project from day one – specifically after children at a test screening were left in tears or some crap. Then, ironically, it disappeared off the Warner Bros. schedule leaving everyone with the slightest bit of optimism for the film crying out loud for someone to shed some light. All we know now is that Jonze has full artistic control, a whole lot of money to explore it – and that his film is now set for release on the 16th of October ’09. As Vulture points out, this leaves ample time for WB to change their mind, screw with those who are crossing their fingers that the naysayers are all wrong, and ultimately, change the release date again.

Well, at least Jonze is no Chris Columbus. The one makes movies and the other makes movies that inspire, so I am all for Jonze’s film and I hope it actually comes out at that planned date.

Don’t get me started on the crap Chris Columbus makes, with the exception of Rent. That dude should not make movies, I think. Jonze should make more though.
