Question: Have you finished your Reprise review, Nick?

  2. Nick Plowman said,

No because it is hard and I cannot rush myself :)

    Okay, fair enough. :)

I CANNOT wait for it when it’s ready, though. I loved it a lot, and while it’s definitely a hard film to tackle (that’s certainly undeniable), I’m absolutely sure you’ll do an amazing job, dude.

Indeed, REPRISE is not something you can put together without maximum effort.
Like so many others I did see BURN AFTER READING and thought it a riveting, bizarre and marvelously acted drama, much typical for the nihilistic Coens. I also saw a Spanish language feature, AUGUST EVENING, which was patterned after Ozu’s TOKYO STORY, and yielded a deeply moving family drama in the barren southwest.
And I saw the superlative doc, UP THE YANGTZE, which Nick issued a spectacular piece of film criticism for several weeks ago. I completely agree with Nick. This was one of the best films of 2008.

I saw BAR too, good film. Loved it. I must check out August Evening soon.

Thanks for the run down Sam! I cannot wait to see Burn After Reading and August Evening myself, I’ve heard great things about both of them.
