Cinema Audio Society Nominees

Posted in Film Awards tagged at 8:35 am by Nick Plowman

“The Dark Knight”
Ed Novick
Lora Hirschberg
Gary A. Rizzo

“Iron Man”
Mark Ulano, CAS
Christopher Boyes
Lora Hirschberg

“Quantum of Solace”
Chris Munro, CAS
Mike Prestwood Smith
Mark Taylor

“Slumdog Millionaire”
Resul Pookutty
Ian Tapp
Richard Pryke

“WALL-E”
Tom Myers
Michael Semanick, CAS

Besides those five nominees, the Oscar could-bes in my opinion include “Cloverfield” and “Australia,” and although I haven’t seen it Kris Tapley suggests “Defiance” as well. Well, compared to all of those, “Paranoid Park” should have fit in somewhere methinks, but what can you do? [In Contention]

    My nominees.

Man oh man, I love those odds. In all seriousness, I hate that noisy movies – like Iron Man, QoS and The Dark Knight – always get in over the quieter, more subtle but still freaking well-mixed movies like Paranoid Park. It isn’t really fair. Noise is overrated, and in some communities it is considered pollution, so. Its probably too much to ask the Oscars in terms of them sticking to their “being green.” Ugh.

    Right?

Well, honestly, two of those spots belong deservedly to Australia and WALL•E, but w/e. PP is so perfectly mixed, edited, shot, directed, everything.

  4. I was a little surprised that Cloverfield was not shortlisted for FX.

  5. Nick Plowman said,

Yeah, I didn’t post the shortlists like everyone else, idk why. I guess I don’t see the point, but I thought Cloverfield would get shortlisted too.

Slumdog Millionair should win, Film is very well recorded on location, well mixed film apart from very well directed & edited with best use of sound.

  7. Nick Plowman said,

    Honestly, I couldn’t agree more.

  8. Akhilesh said,

Just wait & see, Slumdog is going to win.
