Art Directors Guild Nominations

The nominees for excellence in production design…interesting. I definitely think that “Synecdoche, New York” and “Hellboy II” were snubbed here, I mean, “Spiderwick” over the visual design awesomeness of “Hellboy”? And the likes of “Burn” over “Synecdoche”? Plus, the categories confuse me, isn’t “Button” something of a fantasy film? And isn’t “Quantum of Solace” something of a big, fat visual mess? Thought perhaps “Speed Racer,” “Australia” or “The Fall” would have made the cut, but I guess not. Shrug. For the wins, I’d say Ben Button, either The Dark Knight or Indiana Jones and Slumdog Millionaire. [Awards Daily]

I am shocked that Synecdoche, New York didn’t get nominated. It makes no sense to me. Go Benjamin Buttun, I say.

Yeah “Australia’s” snub is kind of strange. As is “Hellboy II.”

You’re right. Very strange the ones they ignored. Quite random, actually.
Makes you wonder why they’re in any way relevant.
Perhaps they just nominate their friends.
